How to walk with a cane

  1. Place the cane in the hand opposite to your weakest leg.
  2. Stand with your weight evenly distributed on each leg, using the cane for balance.
  3. Move the cane forward.
  4. Place most of your weight on your good leg.
  5. Move your sore leg forward even with the cane.
  6. Place your weight on your sore leg using the cane for balance.
  7. Move your other leg up to or past the cane and your sore leg.
  8. Balance yourself again.
  9. Repeat the process.
